One of the best things about being part of the Bump and Baby Club team is seeing our groups with their new babies at our antenatal course reunions.
Whilst the mums have been meeting up regularly, quite often the reunion is the first time their partners have all got together since the arrival of their little ones, and there’s always an infectious buzz in the room.
We see beaming, proud new dads sharing experiences of the first few weeks of parenthood and stories of labour and birth – the good, the bad, the ugly and the euphoric!
They tell us about the admiration they have for their partners and the inexplicable, all-consuming love for their newborns.
Sometimes we hear about the pain they felt having to leave their baby to go back to work after paternity leave, the difficulty of managing sleep deprivation with the pressures of a full-time job and, once in a while, the heartache of knowing their partner is struggling and them feeling unable to help.
So today we’re raising a glass to the dads. It may be impossible for you to understand exactly what us women go through and how tough the tough times can be, but you guys are finding your feet too and we know your journey isn’t easy. We may not always show it, but we appreciate you more than you can imagine. Happy Father’s Day!
